Upper Olentangy River Watershed

Scenario 3 - Consequences of Watershed Growth Over Time

Scenario 3

Growth Controls

Although only one data point was available for analysis, since it appears at the northern portion of the watershed, the quality of the water at this point will directly affect the quality downstream. Growth controls in addition to mitigation efforts implemented in the Upper Olentangy River watershed succeed in slowing degradation of the water quality. In this scenario, additional growth regulations significantly slow the adverse affects of urbanization. The investigated area of the watershed remains in good status for 20 years, and approaches poor in after 30 years. At 30 years, cumulative impacts are becoming evident. Overall, growth controls and mitigation efforts have assisted in keeping additional degradation in check throughout much of the forecasted time frame.
