Upper Olentangy River Watershed

Descriptions of Watershed Characteristics

The drainage area, stream network, and monitored stream segments for the Upper Olentangy River Watershed have been detailed by the Ohio EPA Division of Surface Water. The location of the watershed in relation the other watershed throughout the state can also be seen in the small Ohio map on the top right.
According to the Ohio EPA, the Upper Olentangy River Watershed is impaired primarily by nutrient enrichment and stream and habitat alterations. Similar to other watersheds, the majority of the river miles are impacted by nutrient enrichment. Such severe river and stream impairments commonly result from human development, inadequate agricultural practices and land use changes in the surrounding area.
