Big Darby Creek Watershed

Scenario 3 - Consequences of Watershed Growth Over Time

Scenario 3

Growth Controls

Growth controls in addition to mitigation efforts implemented in the Big Darby Creek watershed succeed in retaining the current water quality status of most sections in the watershed. Additional growth regulations significantly reduce the adverse affects of urbanization. The investigated areas of the watershed remain in their current exceptional-very good status for 20 years. Only one portion of the area is affected in year 30, 2 in year 40, but both remain in good condition. With the exception of year 50, where cumulative impacts are now evident in the exceptional-poor gradient, growth controls and mitigation efforts have greatly assisted in keeping additional degradation in check throughout much of the forecasted time frame.
