Blanchard River Watershed

Descriptions of Watershed Characteristics

The drainage area, stream network, and monitored stream segments for the Blanchard River Watershed have been detailed by the Ohio EPA Division of Surface Water. The location of the watershed in relation the other watershed throughout the state can also be seen in the small Ohio map on the bottom right.
According to the Ohio EPA in 2001, the Blanchard River Watershed is impaired by nutrient enrichment, sedimentation, and other habitat alterations. Similar to many of the other watersheds, the majority of the river miles are impacted by nutrient enrichment. Such severe river and stream impairments commonly result from human development, inadequate agricultural practices and land use changes in the surrounding area.
