Big Darby Creek Watershed

Descriptions of Watershed Characteristics

The drainage area, stream network, and monitored stream segments for the Big Darby Creek Watershed have been detailed by the Ohio EPA Division of Surface Water. The location of the watershed in relation the other watershed throughout the state can also be seen in the small Ohio map on the top right.
According to the Ohio EPA in 2001, the Big Darby Creek Watershed is impaired primarily by nutrient enrichment and sedimentation, but other habitat alterations also significantly impact this watershed. Over 90% of the rivers and streams in this watershed is affected by nutrient enrichment. Such severe river and stream impairments commonly result from human development, inadequate agricultural practices and land use changes in the surrounding area.
